Case study
How we rebuilt Voilà

Before
A theme from 2019, carrying a 2026 portfolio.
The old voila.sg ran on an off the shelf WordPress theme. The home page was a slideshow of project names, Wabi-Sabi, Classic, Modern Farmhouse, with the main menu printed down the left in giant orange serif and an Instagram feed underneath. The things a homeowner wants first, the homes and the people, were a click or two away, and the word Quotation sat in the menu beside Apply Now.
Booking a consultation was a sentence that ended in a link that said here. There were no reviews on the page, no process, no sense of who you would be meeting. On a phone the slideshow and the menu fought for the same screen.
- ×A slideshow of project names as the home page
- ×The main menu printed as the page content, Quotation and Apply Now included
- ×Booking as a sentence ending in a link that said here
- ×No reviews, no process, no team on the page
- ×An Instagram plugin grid doing the work of a portfolio
- ×A theme shared with thousands of other sites
After
Put the homes first, and make the first scroll feel like a film.

The new home page opens on a film of a finished home that plays as you scroll, then settles into a loop. Selected works, films of the walk throughs, Google reviews and the four step process each get their own moment, with Free consultation in the corner of every page. Typography is a quiet uppercase grotesk in the studio's orange, no counters, no gimmicks, so the photography does the talking.
The About page tells the family story with a team carousel and a history timeline. The portfolio is searchable, every project has its own page, and the contact page carries the booking form and the map. It all runs on a static build with a CMS behind it, so the studio adds a project without calling us.
- ✓A home film that plays on the first scroll, then loops quietly behind the words
- ✓Free consultation pinned to the corner of every page, booking form and map on Contact
- ✓Selected works and walk through films, each home its own page
- ✓Google reviews on the page, refreshed from the listing
- ✓A four step process, one full screen per step
- ✓About with the family story, team carousel and a history timeline; a CMS for new projects
What we did
Design and build
- Home, About, Portfolio, project pages and Contact, designed from scratch and hand coded
- A scroll driven hero film with a preloader curtain, then a looping background film
- Phones get a vertical history timeline, centred heroes and nothing scrolling sideways
Portfolio
- Selected works, walk through films and a details gallery, with a working search
- One page per project, generated from a single data file
- Instagram posts pulled from a live feed
Enquiries and launch
- Booking form and Google map on Contact; consultation.voila.sg redirected to the form
- Google reviews on the page; press logos in full colour
- Clean addresses (/about, /portfolio, /contact) with the old .html links redirected
Running it themselves
- A CMS at /admin for projects, films and reviews
- Two rounds of client feedback folded in: timing, copy, map, logos, phone photos
