The Light Switch

Every photograph waits in the dark with only its lamp glowing. Hover one and the lights come on for that piece alone; each scroll drops a whole room of lights into place.

This is the real website, not a video. Scroll inside it and watch the lineup move.

Lighting is sold on the moment it switches on. This concept puts that moment under the visitor's hand: every lamp glows alone in the dark, and the room appears only when they choose it.

How it works

The page never scrolls. Each turn of the wheel moves to the next room, and every photograph in it drops into place from above, one after another, with a small settle at the end. Every photograph sits under a dark veil with a soft hole cut exactly where its lamp is, so the light stays visible while the room around it disappears. The hole is placed by measuring where the brightest pixels of each photo sit, then adjusted for how the photo is cropped to fit its tile, so it never needs moving by hand. Resting the pointer on a photo lifts the veil for that photo alone, and the name and price fade up. Pressing it slides a panel out from the side with the photo, price, description, materials, size and lead time. A switch in the top bar turns every light on at once.

Who it fits

The demo is a fictional lighting maker, lumora, with twenty pieces across pendants, wall lights, and floor, table and chandeliers. The name drops in letter by letter over a bronze chandelier, each room fills with photographs falling into place, and pressing any piece opens its price, materials, size and lead time without leaving the page.

Why it sells

A dark page full of glowing lamps is the product doing the selling, and the hover turns browsing into a small act of switching lights on. Keeping every photo large and giving each room its own screen lets a made to order maker show twenty pieces without a grid of thumbnails.

Common questions

How does the dark overlay keep the lamp visible?

Each photo has its own veil with a radial mask, transparent at the centre and solid at the edges. The centre is placed on the lamp by measuring the brightest pixels in the photograph, so the glow always comes through the dark in the right spot.

Why does the page not scroll?

It is built as rooms rather than a long page. One flick of the wheel or one swipe moves to the next room and drops its photographs in, which keeps every photo large and makes the collection feel like walking through a showroom.

Does it work on a phone?

Yes. A swipe moves between rooms, the boards fold into two columns, names and prices stay visible because there is no hover, and tapping a photo opens the details full screen.

Can this be used for something other than lighting?

The veil works for anything photographed in the dark with one bright subject: candles, jewellery under a spot, a bar's back shelf, a car's headlights. The drop and the side panel work for any product collection.
