The Cinematic Scroll Cylinder wraps a campaign's photography around a slowly turning drum in dark space and choreographs the scroll like a title sequence. As the visitor scrolls, the camera pushes into the cylinder, particles drift past, and statements fade through in sequence, top, centre, and a closing call to action. It is the closest a website gets to a sixty second brand film the visitor controls.
How it works
The imagery is mapped onto a WebGL cylinder that rotates continuously, while GSAP's ScrollTrigger scrubs the camera position and the copy reveals against scroll progress. Because every beat is tied to scroll rather than time, the visitor can play the film at any speed, pause mid shot, or run it backwards, and it always stays composed.
When to use it
Dressed here as a car marque, it fits launches where atmosphere is the product: automotive, watches, audio, fashion campaigns, film and games. It wants eight to twelve dark, consistent photographs and very few words, this is a set piece for a launch page, not a homepage workhorse.
Why it works
Rotation plus depth reads as cinema, the drum is a dolly shot the visitor drives. Tying the sequence to scroll gives the visitor authorship of the pacing, which holds attention far longer than an autoplaying video, and the sparse copy lands harder because each line gets the whole screen and the whole scene to itself.
